Its been 26 years since The Battle of Dras Leona.
26 years since the massacre of all those countless riders.
26 years since the fall of Eragon and Murtagh.
31 years since the fall of Galbatorix.
For ten years after the last rider Nolo died there hadn't been a single rider even though there were plenty of eggs nor had there been anyone to stand up against the Empire. Until five years ago when an Elf emerged from Du Weldenvarden a green dragon alongside him. The Elf was known as Vanir, he alone attempted to take on the Empire but fell victim to a powerful mage known as Sauhren. The Mage fed lies into his skull until finally he struck the Mage down and took up role as King. Though he wasn't as cruel as Galbatorix he wasn't as kind as Vrael.

He started up his own Rider Academy in Gilead though he was having a rough time getting the eggs to hatch, for some reason none of them seemed to be satisfactory enough. It wasn't until six months after starting the Academy that the first egg hatched. Since then the Academy has grown in numbers and the Riders have begun to prosper under Vanir's reign. This is the Dawn of The Riders.
